This wine comes from the most prized plot of the San Polo estate: the two-hectare vineyard Vignavecchia. It is produced from 30 to 40-year-old vines located on a steep, western-facing slope. The soil is poor with a calcareous and limestone composition, adding to the intensity and complexity of this wine with potential for lengthy ageing.

The fruit for the Riserva 2016 is sourced exclusively from Tenuta Greppo’s oldest vines. The Riserva 2016 was vinified entirely in a mixture of Slavonian oak barrels. The wine is aged for three years in Slavonian oak barrels and aged in bottle before release.

Mauve red color with nuances tending to garnet, with a complex and lively aroma with notes of blackberry jam, blueberries, plums, which combine with hints of licorice and tobacco. On the palate it is refined and harmonious with soft tannins.... Just a gorgeous wine.

In the vineyard:  Lodolaio comes from pure Sangiovese grapes obtained from the reproduction through mass selection of vines of very ancient origin, in a soil composed mainly of marl and alberese.  The year 2016 was characterized by constant heat, without excessive peaks, which helped the ripening of the grapes.
