Jancis Robinson 17 points: Mid to deep ruby. Dark, brooding and sweet with the merest suggestion of gingerbread. Ripe cherry fruit and lots of juice on the finish. Very long and supple and with delicious, chewy tannins. (WS)
Eric Guido, Vinous, 91 points: The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is darkly alluring, pulling you close to the glass with a bouquet of black cherries and plums complemented by lavender and hints of sweet brown spice. It fleshes out across the palate in velvety waves, nicely balanced by tart red and black fruits over a core of salty minerality, and finishes long with ample structure, leaving savory hints of currant and leather to linger on.
