In the vineyard: Lodolaio comes from pure Sangiovese grapes obtained from the reproduction through mass selection of vines of very ancient origin, in a soil composed mainly of marl and alberese. The year 2016 was characterized by constant heat, without excessive peaks, which helped the ripening of the grapes. The excellent summer and the accentuated temperature range created an ideal climate for the production of wines with high aromatic profiles and with excellent acidity. A vintage that, more than others, will enhance the characteristics of Sangiovese, with anthocyans, polyphenols and varietal perfumes of great uniqueness and concentration. The year 2016 was one of the best vintages in Italy, and this is a wine you really must have in your cellar.
In the basement: Fermentation and maceration in concrete tanks last for approximately 35-40 days. The refinement takes place in 225 liter first and second passage French oak barrels for 12 months. Subsequently there is a passage in steel before bottling. The evolution ends with refinement in the bottle until optimal maturity is reached.
For tasting: Strong and lively red color with purple reflections. Fresh, complex aroma with an intense fruit that recalls the scents of red berry fruit such as cherry, currant, blackberry and raspberry. The spiciness leads back to licorice, cloves, cinnamon, pepper and dark chocolate with a vanilla finish. The taste is warm and enveloping with an elegant tannin, especially in this vintage where the selection of the bunches was more rigorous and due to the extension of the harvest.

Gastronomic pairings: Suitable for accompanying braised or grilled red meat dishes and game. Try it with the Florentine steak or with a Tuscan pecorino gran reserve.
