Pian delle Vigne has adopted the philosophy of aging in large casks that preserves the exceptional integrity of the Sangiovese berry and imparts the characteristic vibrant elegance of Brunello to the wine. Brunello Pian delle Vigne is an extraordinary expression with great finesse.

The fruit for the Riserva 2016 is sourced exclusively from Tenuta Greppo’s oldest vines. The Riserva 2016 was vinified entirely in a mixture of Slavonian oak barrels. The wine is aged for three years in Slavonian oak barrels and aged in bottle before release.

In the vineyard:  Lodolaio comes from pure Sangiovese grapes obtained from the reproduction through mass selection of vines of very ancient origin, in a soil composed mainly of marl and alberese.  The year 2016 was characterized by constant heat, without excessive peaks, which helped the ripening of the grapes.

Jancis Robinson 17 points: Mid to deep ruby. Dark, brooding and sweet with the merest suggestion of gingerbread. Ripe cherry fruit and lots of juice on the finish. Very long and supple and with delicious, chewy tannins. (WS)

92 pts, Monica Larner – robertparker.com. The Fattoi 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva has a dark and savory set of aromas with blackcurrant, spice, baked rye bread and toasted cumin seed. The oak is very present in this wine, and it adds to the tannins and the rather broad approach of the mouthfeel.
