Tasting Note: Bright and deep purple colour. Aromas of black fruits, reminiscent of fresh plums mixed with graphite notes. On the palate, the wine is balanced and energetic, with sweet and round tannins and long finish.
93 points, James Suckling "Plenty of blue fruit and violets with some black licorice and hints of asphalt. Medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit and linear, firm tannins that frame the wine. Very fine texture."
Save 25%. Brand new to the First Lady range, this is the first vintage of this wine, made using South Africa’s signature red varietal. Aged for 14 months in old oak, to add structure and body without overpowering the rich flavours of dark cherry, chocolate and rooibos tea.
Tasting notes - Expressive Riesling with aromas of green apple, lemon and hints of white peach. The palate is rich and beautifully balanced with a refreshing, dry and mouthwatering finish.

Pale lemon in colour, this dry Riesling displays intense aromas of fresh citrus and stone fruit. The palate is vibrant and textured, balanced by juicy acidity.
5 Star wine, 89-92 pts, Jasper Morris MW, Insude Burgundy: To bottle in November. The average age is 40 year old vines, and 10% in wood. Excellent long finish. Sources are Chablis and Chichée for half and the rest in Viviers, 50 year old vines.
5 Star Wine, 93-97 pts Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy: A glowing pale lemon and lime. Sunny and fresh at the same time, with an extraordinary tension on the nose. Still a wine of discretion, Didier has made wines which completely avoid heaviness while still delivering all that is necessary in concentration and backbone.
92-95 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy: Fresh pale green tint. Didier describes this as the entry level grand cru. The average age of the vines is at or above 60 years.
5 Star Wine 95-98, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy: Mostly from old vines, a good half planted between 1948 and 1952. Translucent lemon and lime colour. The bouquet is not ready to unfurl yet there is a sense of sublime purity about the nose. A wine in perfect harmony on its wide bench of white fruit.
5 Star Wine 93-95 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy: From multiple plots: east facing kimmeridgian marl in Pied d’Aloue (0.50ha), one hectare in Chapelot, (more soil here, fatter wine), then the rest in Bréchain, where vines dating back to 1936, give tension. What a beautiful bouquet.
93-96 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy: A small lot so better to assemble early, which has just been done. A fresh green light shines through the clouds nonetheless. Picked among the first, a little yellow fruit plums and fresh white peaches. Salty rather than saline, with a fine firm backbone.
Allen Meadows, Burghound "Sweet Spot" wine. 91 - 94 pts: Slightly more evident wood influence can be found on the less elegant but beautifully layered nose of citrus confit, acacia blossom and wet stone scents.
The 2016 gained huge praise having been awarded 100 points by Luis Gutierrez (Wine Advocate / Robertparker.com) and the 2017 has also been scored very highly getting 98 points, the top score from Luis for any wine coming from that vintage in Argentina.
