Torino Malbec Reserve Don David 2019

Don David Malbec 2019 - wimbledon wine cellar

A well balanced, spicy and subtly smoky Argentinian Malbec from the high altitude Salta region, described by Decanter magazine as ""a gem in the world of winemaking."

Don David is well-balanced with soft tannins and notes of violets, plums, red fruits and a hint of chocolate. This wine pays homage to the winery's founder, Don David Michel, whose name it takes, and was inspired by his distinction and elegance. After 12 months in oak, Don David gets to reflect the qualities of our founder: with its solid, adventurous, pioneering spirit, its wealth of aromas, wood and sound character, it boasts a well-defined identity.

The high and sunny Salta region of North West Argentina has a drier and more extreme climate than other parts of the country and because of that the Malbecs from here tend towards more concentration and fragrance. The majority of the wine spends 12 months ageing in a mix of French and American oak, with about a third maturing in stainless steel. The result is a wien with rich, soft and fruity aromas that lead onto a palate of plum jam, raisins, tobacco, chocolate, vanilla and toasted notes. It's all very well balanced with a medium to full body and pleasingly persistent length.

Perfect with beef whether grilled, roasted, or barbecued.
