Johann Donabaum Gruner Veltliner Federspiel is a fascinating white wine from Austria's Wachau region. It shows complex aromas of fresh apple and lemon, with hints of anise and menthol. The wine is dry, with a delicious mineral, white pepper bite on the finish.

Born in 1996 from the desire to rediscover a native variety characteristic of the Tyrrhenian coastal area, recognized since the 1990s for its aromatic qualities.

Wine Safari Score: 95/100 Greg Sherwood MW: After the block buster 2021 Monk Stone Chenin Blanc, the new release 2022 from Stark Conde will certainly draw a lot of attention.

Wine Safari Score: 95/100 Greg Sherwood MW: The Axle Chenin Blanc is made by Alex Milner of Natte Valleij winery from grapes sourced from a dryland old bush vine certified Darling heritage block planted in 1985 on decomposed granite soils.

A little bit of honeysuckle and musk here, but a significant concentration of fruit on the palate, with a density of texture. Plenty of wine to work with here. Drink from 2024-2027. This wine is mineral driven, with slight floral notes and a steely crisp acidity which makes you want to go back for more. A classic and classy Chablis, showcasing the mineral terroir beautifully with notes of flint stone and fleshy fruits lingering on the palate. A wine that goes well with Burgundy snails, Chablis sausage and seafood.
