Rich and savory in the glass, the 2022 Bramito della Sala slowly opens to show hints f young peach and apricot, crushed rocks and hints of cardamon. This is silky yet lifted in feel with ripe white pit fruits complemented by hints of vailla bean and lemon custard. The 2022 finishes with admirable length and potency, as a bump of residual acidity maintains a lovely freshness. Bramito della Sala remains one of the best values in Italian Chardonnay.
Bramito comes from the vineyards of the ancient Castello della Sala Castle. A variety, Chardonnay, which finds in this particular terroir, a soil deriving from fossil sediments with clay infiltrations, an expression of marked minerality and elegance.
Sala Castle
Castello della Sala is located in Umbria, a short distance from the border with Tuscany, about 18 kilometers from the historic city of Orvieto. The lands of the Castle, an imposing medieval manor, extend for 600 hectares, of which 200 hectares are planted with vines, at a height of 220 - 470 meters above sea level, among the rolling hills that characterize the beautiful countryside of these areas. The soil is basically clayey, calcareous, rich in fossil shells, with vineyards well exposed to sunrise and with excellent temperature variations: that of Castello della Sala is an area highly suited to the production of white wines. Only one exception: Pinot Noir finds in this terroir the ideal conditions to express itself at its best.
