New release of 2008 R.D. from Champagne Bollinger.  The 2008 is a gorgeous blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay: 90% of the fruit is from Grand Cru vineyards (and the remainder from Premier Crus) - mainly Ay and Verzenay for the Pinot Noir, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant for the Chardonnay.

The 2019 Vin de Constance is matured for 18 months in 500-liter Hungarian and French oak barrels, 50% new, followed by another 18 months in oak foudres. The growing season saw more sunlight hours than previous vintages (2,998 compared to 2,588 in 2018 for example).

Wine Safari Score: 96/100 Greg Sherwood MW: André Bruyns is of course the viticulturalist at the famous Lammershoek wine estate from which the grapes for this exceptional old vine wine were sourced from a Chenin Blanc block planted in 1968 on Sandstone and quartz soils.
