Chanares Estate 98 points JS “A salty and minerally red with high desert flowers, fresh herbs like sage, and scrub aromas and flavors to the cherries and plums. Salty with white pepper. Boysenberry. Lead pencil. Compressed, very pretty and fresh. Tannins are really chalky and fine. Needs time to open but beautiful for the finish.”
Hobbs Estate 95 points JS “A luscious yet crunchy red with crushed berries, hibiscus, oyster shells and redcurrants. Tight and chalky tannins on the palate, closed and linear at the end. Very fine for the vintage. New wine from Cobos and giving a nod to the Hobbs family.”
Zingaretti Estate 95 points JS “Very perfumed and beautiful with plum, hazelnut and coconut aromas that follow through to a full body with tight and solid tannins. Impressive for the hot vintage. They picked a month earlier. Wood tannins support the wine beautifully and there is lovely freshness with some herbs and berries.”
