A family farm handed down from father to daughter, Domaine d'Ardhuy is located on the border between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, around its emblematic vineyard "Le Clos des Langres".
We have been visiting this domaine for over 15 years now. They fly under the radar yet have fabulous holdings. You cannot miss their unique building which straddles the route des grand crus on the D974. From their lovely tasting room there is a beautiful view over their monopole Clos des Langres. This excellent domaine has 38 hectares of land, 8 of which are Grand Cru, 14 Premier Cru and 14 Village. It’s a mystery which this winery doesn’t have a larger presence in the UK. Probably because, in a saturated market, it’s simple to continue following well known names. The winery is particularly strong in Ladoix, Beaune Blanc, Puligny and their Gevrey-Chambertin and Savigny les Beaune has to be value to for money-wise some of the best bargains in Burgundy. The reds are succulent, beautifully perfumed and so silky. Whilst this is the general style of the 2019’s, it’s incredible to think that you could be drinking such gorgeous wine at a fraction of the price of some of our more illustrious friends in Burgundy. The whites are rich, full flavoured and bursting at the seems with fruits. After a few years of aging these will be delightful and as ever the Puligny and Meursault are exceptional. We really recommend the wines of d’Ardhuy this year.
