Shafer One Point Five 2018 - Under Bond

shafer one point five - wimbledon wine cellar

One Point Five celebrates lasting bonds, taking its name from the term “a generation and a half,” once coined by John and Doug Shafer to describe their long, accomplished father-and-son partnership. These two worked side by side for decades leading our Stags Leap District winery, always with a spirit of energy and teamwork that continues to
inspire everything we do at Shafer today.

98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Malbec, predominately from two Stags Leap District sites — Shafer’s hillside estate vineyard and the “Borderline” vineyard located about two miles south of the winery. Aged for 20 months in 100% new oak barrels (Allier & Troncais). This wine reflects the climate and soils of our Stags Leap District vineyard sites and Shafer’s commitment to meticulous, sustainable farming and quality winemaking.

A lengthy, cool, steady growing season created ideal conditions for the fruit to hang on the vine along time in the summer sun developing rich colour, alluring aromas, and luxuriant flavours.

“In your glass the wine introduces itself with enticing aromas of red and black fruit, baking spice, dark violets, lavender, wet stone, and cinnamon. The promise of all that delicious complexity is fulfilled with a racy Cabernet Sauvignon full of energy – juicy flavours of red plum, cherry, cassis, black tea, and cola – all beautifully packaged together with ripe, bright tannins made for right-now enjoyment as well as long term aging in your cellar.”
