Made from 90% Tempranillo, 6% Graciano and 4% Garnacha, the Roda I 2017 has fantastic concentration of fruit on the nose with aromatic layers of abundant black plum and blueberries, cloves, black pepper and cinnamon. In the background there is a subtle white flower quality and aromas of moist earth and pleasant minerality. On the palate, it is voluminous and concentrated with fine, high quality tannins.
“Aromas of blackberries, ripe blueberries, figs, cedar and roasted meat. It’s medium-to full-bodied with plush tannins and fresh acidity. Juicy and textured with a polished, rich core of fruit and spice. Flavorful, long finish. Drink or hold.” 94 Points James Suckling
“2017 was a hot vintage that was also hit by frost, resulting in a Roda I with a lot of concentration and power. This marriage of Tempranillo with 6% Graciano and 4% Garnacha is seriously structured and compact. It's slightly lacking in charm perhaps, but should soften in bottle. 2025-32” 93pts Tim Atkin
“2017 was a very difficult year, and I found intense herbal notes and evolved aromas in the 2017 Roda I. The palate has abundant dusty tannins and marked rusticity. I don´t think this is up to speed with other vintages of Roda I.” 91pts The Wine Advocate
Three tiers of wine are made; Roda, Roda I, and Cirsion, all from the estate’s 17 parcels of vines, each of which is vinified separately and no wine comes from vines less than 30 years of age.
