A joint venture between the owner of Chateau Angelus and Chateau Lamothe Bergeron. This has to be one of the best value-for-money Bordeaux wines we’ve tasted this year. Introduced to us from friends in Bordeaux but with the hallmark of Chateau Angelus, this is a plummy, ripe wine. A rich nose, soft and juicy in the mouth with tannins that are settling down, this is a wine to drink now or tuck away for the next 3-5 years.
Having retasted the wine this weekend, it has a leathery plumminess. Lots of different layers of uncompromising fruit and structure. The wine will be arriving in 2-3 weeks time - pre-ordering is essential.
It took 16 months of work to carry out this wonderful renovation project that signs the rebirth of Château Lamothe Bergeron. In spring, grape blossom flourishes. Its petals fly away, leaving the stamens to deploy freely. This is the renewal, symbolized by the latest born of Château Lamothe Bergeron, NOVE. Coming from three very qualitative plots situated on the Plateau de Cussac, NOVE is a selection of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. NOVE is a powerful wine that however remains loyal to the style of the property also expressing finesse and elegance. This wine is limited.
