Jerome Galeyrand Fixin Champs des Charmes 2020

domaine galeyrand burgundy en primeur 2020 - wimbledon wine cellar

*ALL PRICES IN BOND*  92 points, William Kelley Robertparker.com: Soaring from the glass with aromas of raspberries, plums, warm spices, peonies, orange rind and loamy soil, the 2020 Fixin Champs des Charmes is medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a deep core of vibrant, perfumed fruit that entirely conceals its fine structuring tannins. It's a worthy follow-up to the 2019 (which is drinking brilliantly already, by the way).

91 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy: Planted 1960, Jérôme thinks in pinot Magnien. The grapes hold on well after reaching ripeness. More purple than black, with some smoky liquorice aromatics. This certainly shows the savoury side of Fixin. The fruit, starting at the front of the palate and swelling through to the back, is sublime, deep in volume, enormously attractive in style, with some rich strawberry notes, and completes a very long unctuous finish, with no tannins in sight and just the right acidity. Within sniffing distance of its 5th star. Tasted: December 2021
