A joint venture between the owner of Chateau Angelus and Chateau Lamothe Bergeron. This has to be one of the best value-for-money Bordeaux wines we’ve tasted this year. Introduced to us from friends in Bordeaux but with the hallmark of Chateau Angelus, this is a plummy, ripe wine.

CHÂTEAU TAYET CUVÉE PRESTIGE BORDEAUX SUPÉRIEUR

Château Turcaud Cuvée Majeure Rouge Bordeaux Supérieur AOC is rich, concentrated, fleshy and ripe, with freshness. The 2015 vintage won the gold medal at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris in 2017.

Tasting Notes: The 2016 Rubicon shows great charm and drinkability even at this early stage, no doubt a result of the high Merlot and Cabernet Franc composition. We were very cautious with regards to tannic structure as some of the later Cabs exhibited astringency which we wanted to minimise in the final blend.

The best components of the vintage go into this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and what a vintage 2015 was. This is a ripe, full-bodied style with supple mulberry fruit flavours complemented by oak and underlying acidity. 93pts Tim Atkin, MW
