Domaine Naudin-Ferrand

Nestled in the beautiful countryside of the Hautes Cotes, this small and beautiful domaine is a gem. Lovingly looked after by Claire Naudin, it is the embodiment of "small is beautiful" and a visit to this producer is like a wonderful trip to yester-year. The family's warmth greats you as you enter the domaine. In a world where Burgundy is becoming increasingly sought after and expensive, Claire continues to produce small quantities of tip top red and whites.

We have been working with Claire Naudin for the past 10 vintages. Her wines need very little introduction. She is one of the world’s leading producers of wines with no sulphites. The wines have a wonderful elegance, are understated and silky with a luxurious elegance. Her perfect-score Echezeaux is an embodiment of fine fruit and finesse that is seldom seen in this appellation. Power is not evident in this super bottling. It is replaced by finesse and a ballerina-like aroma of charm and cherries. A “zen” wine. Whilst the Echezeaux has become a collectable commodity throughout the world of wine, the Aloxe Corton and the Ladoix are a must for Burgundy enthusiasts who seek top of the tree Pinot flavours at realistic prices. The Clematis is an absolute bargain for anybody that is a true fan of natural wines and exquisite white Burgundy reminiscent of a fine Meursault. Layers of super-fine Chardonnay waft from the glass and hint at what the wine will evolve to in 5 years time. The Ladoix is making a great name for itself and this is a wine to collect and keep in your cellar. It ages beautifully. We are delighted to say this has always been a firm favourite, and in the world of crazy pricing this is a true bargain. Just look at what Jasper Morris says:

“Fine mid crimson-purple, with a really delicious perfumed nose floral on top, sweet fresh strawberry and raspberry below. The oak shows rather more here before the depth of fruit takes over. Some dark fruit notes arrive at the back. Complete and fascinating.” Tasted: November 2020. 5 Stars and 90 – 92 points.

This is a dream winery which deserves much more acclaim. Claire is from a long lie of magnificent growers who have run this family estate. Perched high in the hills of Hautes-Cotes, her entry level wines are a bargain. She is the partner of probably Burgundy’s most cult wine-maker Jean-Yves Bizot. This is a fabulous couple to have dinner with and the wines are just to die for. We will be releasing Jean-Yves’ wines later in June. Claire’s wines are in a class of their own too, I simply adore them… and many other wine enthusiasts around the world adore them too.  In the heady world of Burgundy prices they are a bargain. It is a domaine that we adore and whose wines should definitely be in your cellar.
