This historic 18 ha domaine was sold to Maison Louis Jadot in 2008 and is now operating under their auspices even though the Ferret label is still used. In keeping with the long-standing tradition of women winemakers at Ferret, Audrey Braccini was hired to manage the domaine after the Jadot acquisition. She told me that the basic approach that she is using is reasonable yields, absolutely no lees stirring, 35% new wood and an élevage period of 18 months. With respect to the 2018 growing season Braccini exclaimed that “it was a war of nerves!
"As to the wines, they are definitely marked by the sunshine of the growing season but remarkably enough they are still quite fresh. I think that they will be popular as there’s good density and richness plus the finishes are refreshing.”
A pleasing balance between weight and freshness. Good tension and restrained fruit, promising characteristics in a wine during this sunny vintage. Perfect with shellfish and molluscs, seafood risotto, grilled or pan-fried fish, veal cutlets with creamy sauces, goat's cheeses and hard cow's milk cheeses.
