Bodegas Olarra 2016 Añares Crianza (Rioja)
"Berry and plum aromas are standard for good Rioja crianza, which this is. A fleshy, fairly full palate is juicy and textured, while centered flavors of plum, berry fruits, oak spice and vanilla finish with mild milk chocolate notes." MICHAEL SCHACHNER, Wine Enthusiast
Selected as one of the 40 best wines for Christmas in the Sunday Times, Rioja Alta Viña Arana Gran Reserva continues its winning streak with the nation’s wine critics. Like others, wine critic Will Lyons has praised the wine’s “amazingly good value”.
“Pure Tempranillo, with lovely big juicy succulence. Very pure with minimal oak flavour – a different style to the La Rioja Alta caricature. Cherry and aniseed, with nice ripe tannins. Good length, and a fresh finish.” 92 Points, David Williams, Decanter
Albariño from a prestigious region of Galicia, tropical on the nose, with pineapple and passion fruit balanced by flowers and a juicy mouthful of apricot and mango.
Food Matching: It pairs perfectly with mussels, squid, octopus, also risottos and marinated or spiced fish.
Where else can you get vintage Champagne for £20 per bottle?! Long ageing Cava of strong character from its ageing on lees. Yellow colour with golden reflections, bright with fine bubbles. In the nose it is creamy, highlighting the fruity notes with a background of toasted nuts. Fresh palate, silky and structured.

Tasting Note: Red cherry colour, with a violet rim. This is a very complex wine, with red fruits, spices and Mediterranean herbs notes. It clearly reminds of the Garnatxa Negra varietal, rounded with a hint of the well managed fine oak ageing. In the mouth it is intense, fresh, silky, with ripe tannins.
Tasting Note: Pale yellow with some green reflections. Aromatically this is so very intense. Fresh fruits, aromatic herbs and touches of anise. In the mouth it is well balanced, fresh, enveloping. This is a complex, long lasting wine, nice, with a marked varietal personality.
Tasting Note: A mix of small plots of a multitude of exotic old fashioned grapes resulting in a flavoursome, rich yet vibrant wine from the heart of Spain, notes of white flowers and crips acidity.
Food Matching: Best with fish, seafood and warm salads.
