Wine Critic of The Observer newspaker, Tim Atkin, gave Greywacke a stunningly good review earlier in 2011, attributing Judd's new venture’s “out of the block success” to his “close knowledge of Marlborough’s sub-regions” and the fact that, after 25 years at Cloudy Bay, “he’s been revitalised by Greywacke.”

With a production of only 10,000 cases annually (less than 10% of Cloudy Bay’s), Judd is able to channel all of his legendary focus on quality into a much more concentrated quantity of wine.

2011 was an outstanding vintage for Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough, with settled weather, mild temperatures and slightly warmer nights than usual, resulting in excellent flavour intensity.

As a result, the 2011 Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc really is fabulous, with a refreshing medley of fresh lychee, grapefruit and honeydew melon on the nose, laced with flinty minerality on the palate and finished with an infusion of mandarin and lime zest.

A lively, invigorating wine with persistent grapefruit flavours and a steely blackcurrant tang. Crisp with a long, enduring finish.
